De Young Museum Demo
San Francisco, 2003
In 2003 I worked with Artist Paul Lanier on a demonstration at the De Young Museum’s topping off party.
We worked in Golden Gate Park, (across from the new De Young site) to produce a monumental scale ceramic sculpture. It was important to the museum that there be some type of community participation. Paul made an armature for the sculpture and we spent the day working with clay to create a huge head. It was great to work at this scale, unfortunately the sculpture was dismantled at the end of the day, but we had great fun working with the children who were amazed at the size of the piece.
