The Mud Bus

The Mud Bus is a mobile ceramic studio, fully equipped with all the tools needed to conduct classes in clay. We work with other non-profit organizations and community groups to provide free or low cost ceramic workshops to disadvantaged and low-income communities. It was inspired by the Clay Mobile project in Philidelphia.

Mud Bus London

I am currently writing a grant to the Art Council UK to start the Mud Bus in London. There is no other mobile clay project in the UK, so keep your fingers crossed we can bring the Mud bus to England! Working in Rotherhithe in collaboration with Surrey Docks Farm who will provide the space to offer after-school, low cost ceramic classes to primary school aged children. Here are some images from the recent ceramic workshops I taught this summer.

Mud Bus San Francisco

-In 2012 we received further funding for the Mud Bus from the San Francisco Arts Commission, National Endowment for the Arts and The Yahoo Employee Foundation. Over the past 4 years the Mud Bus project has produced 6 exhibitions at our gallery

We had a wonderful year last year with support from the Haas Fund and the San Francisco Arts Commission. We started classes in the fall of 2011 with our new host organization the San Francisco Department of Recreation and Parks.

Our first session was in the renovated space at the Mission Recreation Center where work was exhibited in the Day of the Dead Celebrations. We continued our classes in January and February at Bernal Heights Recreation Center.
